52.37 Bitcoin Recovered from Coldcard Security Flaw Transfers

A group of white hats has moved 52.37 Bitcoin recovered from addresses compromised by a Coldcard security flaw to a Wyoming-based entity called Crypto Recovery Trust, according to Galaxy Digital's head of research Alex Thorn in a Monday X post.

The rescued holdings represent roughly 40 percent of the Bitcoin swept during the vulnerability's second wave. Thorn noted that 3.0134 BTC within the transfer originated from addresses Galaxy had not monitored previously. The firm believes those coins also came from affected wallets but cannot verify their source.

Security researcher Nick Bax, an incident responder with SEAL 911, stated on September 9 that he assisted in securing approximately 50 Bitcoin at the end of July. Bax explained the funds faced imminent theft because of the Coldcard entropy flaw.

Thorn referenced a published figure of 1,830 BTC spread across 9,162 addresses tied to the hardware wallet weakness. Affected users can check the Crypto Recovery Trust website by entering their wallet addresses to learn whether the trust holds their assets.
